12 Tips To Get You Back on Track

When you are undertaking a fitness journey, it is very common to fall off the wagon and lose motivation. It doesn’t have to be a permanent situation and you can always get back on track!

Here are some tips to help you get back on track:

1. Change your workout

Are you bored of your current workout?

Need a different workout?

Change up your usual workout routine at least every 4 weeks. It is OK to do the same exercises for at least 4 weeks, but after that, be sure to change up your routine.

Every week, also try to increase your weights or do something that challenges you a bit more than the week before. You should be pushing yourself at the gym at every workout. Make your workouts count!

2. Try a new recipe

Cooking healthy foods can be fun and your food doesn’t need to taste bland.

Alternatively, we also have a bunch of Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack Recipes in the Busy Girl Nutrition Guide eBook which are targeted at busy people who need food ready in 30 minutes or less!

3. Drink more water

Are you getting at least 8 cups of water per day?

Try and hit your goal of 8 cups and I promise you will feel better!

If you don’t like the taste of regular water, try adding cucumber, mint leaves or even berries to your water to freshen up the taste. Have a large water bottle at your desk at work and drink it throughout the day.

Hydration will help you feel better inside and out, and will get you ready to start living a healthier life.

Every little bit counts.

4. Set your goals

What are your goals?

What do you want to achieve?

Set an achievable goal as well as a time-frame that you want to achieve the goal in.

Make it realistic and measurable.

For example, I want to go to the gym 3 times every week, for 3 months.

Write down your goal on a post-it note and put it up in a visible place like the bathroom mirror. Read it every morning when you wake up.

5. Share your goals

Tell a friend or family member about what you want to achieve with your fitness goals.

Ask them to help keep you accountable for these goals and to check in with you in a few weeks to make sure you are sticking to your goals.

6. Find a buddy

Having a friend or family member to exercise with will help you to stick to your own fitness goals.

When you have someone that is relying on you to be at the gym, or to be at a class, you are more than likely going to stick to your workout plan than going it alone.

Ask around at work to see if anyone is interested in exercising with you or eating healthy – you will be surprised at the participants that you can find if you just ask around.

7. Change your diet plan

Are you sick of the food that you are eating?

Change up your diet plan but researching new recipes to add to your diet which are healthy and that fit with your goals.

If you are sick of eating a certain food, take it out of your weekly shop and change it with something else.

If you need a guide of how to eat healthy, checkout the Busy Girl Guides eBook which give loads of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack recipes for busy people.

8. Exercise for 10 minutes

Sometimes when you fall off the wagon, you need to start off by doing something small like working out for a short amount of time.

Try doing star jumps or skipping for 10 minutes at home.

Find at least 10 minutes of your day to do some sort of physical activity – everyone has a free 10 minute in their day!

9. Go grocery shopping for healthy food

Stock up your kitchen with lots of healthy food to help keep you on track.

If you keep good food in the house, you are going to eat good food.

10. Clean out your kitchen

Are you eating junk food because it is in the house?

Get rid of it. Clean out your kitchen and throw out all the junk food that you shouldn’t be eating.

If you don’t have junk food in the house, you won’t eat it.

11. Try a Green Smoothie

If you have fallen off track, you may not have been eating all your vegetables!

Try having a green smoothie to kickstart your healthy eating. Find some green smoothie recipes here.
